Courses and eLearning

Courses are specific instructional modules that cover a specific topic; for example, "Intro to Phlebotomy" or "Safety Enhancement Procedure." Courses may have multiple separate classes, each with a different roster of learners.

Unlike classes (which always refer to a live gathering of learners, taught in-person, in a classroom, at a specific time, by an instructor), a course refers to a specific subject and its curriculum, but does not cover specific classroom session times or instructors.

Courses may also sometimes refer to eLearning, a name given to self-paced instructional content that covers a specific topic. These modules are similar (in theory) to regular training classes, but eLearning is completed entirely on the computer. There is no interaction with an instructor or any fellow learners, and any grading/scoring is automatically handled by the software.
