There are some key concepts that you should be familiar with to help you quickly navigate and utilize the system. What follows are some quick explanations of the most important concepts that will help enable you to get the most benefit from symplr Learning.
A class is a particular instance of a live, instructor-led course that occurs on a regular, set schedule. For example, "What's New in Phlebotomy" could have two different classes: one which meets at 3:00 PM, and one that meets at 9:00 AM. Each class will have its own set group of learners. Learn more
Courses are specific instructional modules that cover a specific topic; for example, "Intro to Phlebotomy" or "Safety Enhancement Procedure." Courses may have multiple separate classes, each with a different roster of learners. Learn more
eLearningis a name given to self-paced instructional content that covers a specific topic. These modules are similar (in theory) to regular training classes, but eLearning is completed entirely on the computer. There is no interaction with an instructor or any fellow learners, and any grading or scoring is automatically handled by the software. Learn more
Competencies refer to specific assignments and tests that Learners must complete in order to remain qualified for the jobs they perform. Completing competency assignments helps ensure that staff is properly trained on all the most important methods, techniques, and procedures throughout the healthcare industry. Learn more
Sometimes, you are required to complete a course or class before you can be considered eligible to enroll in another class. These pre-enrollment requirements are referred to as prerequisites. Once these prerequisites have been completed, the learner may then enroll in the next class.
Other times, a class turns out to be overwhelmingly popular. When there are more students signing up than there are available seats in the class, that is when a waitlist comes into play. A waitlist is essentially an online queue for people signing up for a class. If one person in the class happens to drop the course, the first person in the queue is automatically added to the roster.
