Validating Competencies

Validating competencies is a way to verify that a learner has successfully proven their ability to perform a skill or set of skills. Each individual skill in a competency must be validated in order to fully complete the competency.

Verification must be performed by a designated validator for competencies.

There are several methods to validate a competency:

  • Demonstration. A learner performs a specific skill in the presence of a validator.
  • Observation. A validator witnesses a learner performing skills necessary for a competency.
  • User Evidence. Learner provides evidence (usually files uploaded to symplr Learning) that illustrates their proficiency with a specific skill, which a validator must review.

Using the myValidations widget, you can validate a competency for a learner, or validate a learner for a competency. You can also perform mass validations to quickly validate groups of learners or competencies.
