symplr Recruiting Concepts
There are some key concepts in symplr Recruiting that you should be familiar with to help you quickly navigate and utilize the system. Below are some quick explanations of the most important topics, as well as links to pages with greater detail. Understanding the concepts important to your day-to-day responsibilities helps you to get the most benefit from the system.
Requisitions are "requests to hire." They drive most, if not all, of the processes in symplr Recruiting. Requisitions are used to create job postings, which are placed on career sites for people to view and apply to.
Applicants are people. Specifically, ones that you are considering to fill a requisition.
Applicants submit applications to job postings. A single applicant can have multiple applications in the system.
Permissions refer to what a user can and cannot do in symplr Recruiting.
The system uses User Roles to control permissions. User roles have a distinct set of permissions associated with them; users assigned to those roles inherit the permission sets.
User roles also determine which selection lists users appear in (i.e. Recruiter or Hiring Manager lists), as well as which views they are presented on the dashboard.
User roles should only be adjusted by system administrators with the assistance of symplr Support representatives. Please use caution when accessing the User Roles area of symplr Recruiting.
Messages and Tasks are new concepts for symplr Recruiting, introduced with the release of version 11. They are found on the Applicant Detail page, and help managers and recruiters keep track of when certain applicants need their attention for review or general feedback.
There is a new Messages and Tasks table found on Applicant Detail pages that lists correspondence sent between managers and recruiters about the selected applicant. If some action is required by a user, a task is assigned and displays in the table until complete.
Onboarding refers to tasks taken during the process of hiring an applicant. It specifically refers to providing forms and documents to the chosen applicant for completion and/or review, and tracking the status of those documents.
The New Hire wizard contains an onboarding step which allows users to send a set of documents to the applicant. From within their user profile on the career site, applicants are able to review and complete the necessary documents. symplr Recruiting is then able to monitor and display the status of those documents.
Screening refers to the background, assessment, reference, and other types of checks that are done on an applicant during the review and hiring process. These assessments usually include the gathering of data from the applicants, followed by processing of that data by third-party screening providers.
symplr Recruiting integrates many of the screening tools directly with the applicant profile, making the gathering and analysis a simply process for users.
